The Tigers Spring Rotation has been set for the first week or so of Spring Training. The rotation will go as follows:
Friday, March 2nd vs. Florida Southern Mocs @ 1:05: Andy Oliver, Oliver will get the first shot to showcase his talents for the Tigers 5th starter spot. It’ll only be for an inning so, his pitch location will be key to watch for. As far as the other 8 innings go, young pitchers trying to make the squad will most likely go one inning a piece.
Saturday, March 3rd at. Atlanta Braves @ 1:05: Doug Fister, Fister gets his first action of the 2012 season against the Braves at Champion Stadium on Saturday. Fister is looking to build off a stellar second half last year with the Tigers.
Sunday, March 4th vs. Atlanta Braves @ 1:05: Max Scherzer, just like Doug, Max gets his first start action of 2012 against the Braves. Look for Max to go at least 1-2 innings as he works to stretch out that right arm for the regular season.
Monday, March 5 vs. Toronto Blue Jays @ 1:05: Justin Verlander, JV’s first action of 2012 will be against the team he threw his 2nd career no hitter against last year in the Blue Jays. I doubt he’ll get the opportunity to do it again, pitching only at least 1-2 innings if that. But one thing I can guarantee is that, if JV struggles, there will be some people out there who will write him off for the 2012 season, which is sad.
Tuesday, March 6th at, Miami Marlins @ 1:05: Rick Porcello, the Tigers and Porcello get their first look at Ozzie Guillen’s newly revamped Marlins at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday. Rick will be looking to get that good sinker of his working well to get his confidence up for the 2012 season.
Wednesday, March 7th vs. Atlanta Braves @ 1:05: TBD, but if I had to guess, it’ll probably be one of the 5th starter candidates in Jacob Turner,Adam Wilk, Duane Below, Drew Smyly or Casey Crosby. We should know by the start of next week.
