Country Strong Tigers takes a look into the possible milestones that might occur in the 2012 season for your Detroit Tigers hitters.
Alex Avila: Alex has a few milestones to watch for in 2012. He’s 181 at bats away from 1,000, which should be accomplished quite easily. And he’s 19 home runs shy of 50 career home runs.
Gerald Laird: Only one possible milestone for G-money this year. He’s just 17 hits away from #500.
Miguel Cabrera: Miguel could reach quite a few milestones this year, barring injury, here are a few. He’s 149 games played away from 1,500, 156 hits away from 1,753, which would give him sole possession of the 396th spot on the All-Time hits leaders list passing Elmer Flick. And he needs just 35 home runs to reach the 312 home run plateau, giving him sole possession of the 117th spot on the All-Time Home runs leader list passing former Tiger Pudge Rodriquez.
Prince Fielder: New Tiger Prince Fielder has plenty of hype to live up to this season and he’ll more then likely pass a few milestones in the process. He’s just 2 games played away from 1,000, 4 hits away from 1,000 and 1 triple shy of 10. Which for a guy with his blazing speed is pretty big accomplishment. That last sentence was total sarcasm if you couldn’t tell.
Brandon Inge There are a number of milestones Inge could reach this year but, it’s all based on wether or not how much playing time he’ll get and if his bat comes back to life. Here are just a few. He needs 19 hits to reach 1,100, 2 triples to reach 40, 13 RBIs to reach 600 and 11 home runs to reach 150.
Jhonny Peralta: Peralta is another Tiger who could achieve quite a few milestones in 2012. Here are a few. He needs 132 hits to eclipse the 1,250 mark, and just 8 more hits to take over sole possession of 852nd spot on the All-Time hits leaders list passing Wid Conroy. Also, he needs just 20 RBIs to reach the 600 mark.
Ramon Santiago: Longtime Tiger Ramon Santiago looks to achieve some milestones this year. Here are a few. He needs 176 at bats to reach the 2,000 mark. 45 hits to reach 500 and 34 RBIs to reach 200 for his career.
Brennan Boesch: Boesch is looking to bounce back from a cut short 2011 season due to a wrist injury and achieve some milestones as well. He needs 60 hits to reach 300, 20 home runs to reach 50 and 79 RBIs to reach 150 for his career.
Andy Dirks: Coming off a decent rookie season, Dirks looking to get even better in 2012. He could possibly achieve these milestones. 45 hits to reach 100, and 22 RBIs to reach 50 for his career.
Austin Jackson: Jackson has changed his swing a bit this year in hopes of cutting down on his strikeouts. Here a some milestones Austin might reach in 2012. 172 hits to reach 500, 14 RBIs to reach 100, 51 steals to reach 100, which seems like a lot but possible for a guy with his speed.
Don Kelly: The Almighty Don Kelly doesn’t play much, but when he does, he impresses. Kelly doesn’t have much stats to look at but, here are a few milestones he might reach. He needs 61 hits to reach the 200 mark, and 122 at bats to reach 700.
Ryan Raburn: Raburn has been raking this Spring. But, the only question is, will it continue into the regular season? Nevertheless, here are some milestones Ryan might achieve in 2012. He needs a 132 hits to reach 500, 19 doubles to reach 100, and 46 RBIs to reach 250 for his career.
Delmon Young: Another guy who has been raking this Spring, Delmon Young looks to have a monster year in 2012. Some milestones he might reach are, 3,000 at bats, he needs 216 at bats to accomplish this. 29 home runs to reach 100 and 92 RBIs to reach 500 for his career.
